  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Dale Spender was born in Newcastle, NSW in 1943. She is a prominent feminist who has published over 30 books. She gained her doctorate at the University of London where she has also taught women's studies. She is the founder of a number of women's publishing ventures including Pandora Press for whom she was general editor of their Australian women writers literary heritage series. She is a regular speaker on women's issues and has developed a strong interest in the electronic media. Her publications include Man made language (1980), There's always been a women's movement this century (1983), Mothers of the novel: 100 good women writers before Jane Austen (1986), The writing or the sex? (1989), The knowledge explosion (with Cheris Kramarae, 1992), Nattering on the net: women, power and cyberspace (1995).
