  • Attributions / conjectures

    Studebaker M29 Weasel, early T24 designation with narrow tracks.
    One of two that the Australian Army had during WW2 for trialling late 1944 to mid-1945 at Bandiana / Monegeeta, Victoria, where they were found to be unsuitable for Australian conditions. Australian Army Registration Number is 139999.
    The NSW Govt Tourist Bureau purchased the two Weasels in 1946 for ski chalet transportation.
    The vehicle shown is the only known survivor of the two; its remains were recovered and it is currently being restored by a private collector.
