Caption "A Different Perspective" exhibition.Built on the corner of Ashburner Street and South Steyne Road, the Manly Water Chute and Toboggan added to Manly's reputation of being "seven miles from Sydney and a thousand miles from care." Surf bathing had only been permitted in Sydney the previous year, when Manly newspaper proprietor W.H. Gocher successfully challenged the law, by bathing during daylight hours
