    PXD 923/2:
    Jedat [&] Nemare :: pen and pencil drawing 23.8 x 30.2 cm. Inscribed beneath image in pencil Voyages a Bathurst / Jeunes Sauvages de la Nouvelle du Sud dans leur camp. dapres nature. On either side of the figures are colour and artists notes. Paper is watermarked with bottom of crown and an M (Montgolfier).

    PXD 923/3:
    [Jedat [&] Tara [&] Nemare] :: early state of stipple and line etching, trial pull prior to letters, of plate 100 of Voyage autour du monde. 23.5 x 32.6 cm.

  • General note

    From curator's acquisition notes, 2002,:
    It would seem that this drawing depicts three young Aboriginal men from the Nepean district who Pellion met whilst staying at Regentville in late November 1819.
    The plate was published in the 'Atlas historique' of the official account of the expedition, 'Voyage autour du monde ...', 1825 as plate 100.
    The centre figure, Tara, was derived from Pellion's unpublished full-length portrait of Tara : see PXD 923/1.
