    Thomas Valentine Blomfield (1793-1857), after fighting in the Peninsular War, arrived in Sydney with the 48th Regiment in 1817. He retired as a Lieutenant in 1823 and then settled at Dagworth estate on the Hunter River. In 1820 he married Christiana Jane Brooks. They had twelve children including the Reverend John Roe Blomfield, who married Mary Rachel Wood in 1851

    A. Family tree of Blomfield and Brooks families and index to correspondents compiled in Mitchell Library.
    B. Correspondence, 1799-1856, including letters from T. V. Blomfield written during the Peninsular War, letters from T. V. and C. J. Blomfield from Australia to their family in England, and letters to Rev. J. R. Blomfield from his family and others. Printed transcript of most of the letters from 1799-1845 entitled Memoirs of the Blomfield family at A926.3/B.
