    The papers include: (1) Diaries kept by Lt. Edwin G. Lywood (HMS Garnet), 1892-3; Lt. Gerrard Montagu (HMS Dublin), 1841-5; Maj. Alfred Hood (Stirling Castle), 1945-6; Lt. J.T. Haverfield, (Constance and Trincomalee), 1852-5; John Robyns, 1796-1834; A.E. Crosby (HMS New Zealand) 1913; Corp. Michael Browne, 1951; and Pte. John Copp (Thetis), 1867-83. (2) Scrapbook from HMS Cambrian, ca. 1908-13. (3) "A long commission" HMS Leander, New Zealand 1937-42 / Sgt A.G. Sargent. (4) Letters from Major General Arthur Collins to Admiralty, 1786-1787, referring to formation and departure of Botany Bay detachment of Marines. (5) General Collins' Orderly Book, 1786-1787, re formation and embarkation of the Botany Bay Detachment. (6) Admiralty letters to Plymouth Division, 1786-1792. Subjects include: formation of a detachment of Marines to accompany ships to Botany Bay; desertion of Lieut. James Morrison; and court martial of Capt. James Meredith at Port Jackson. (7) Col. Cyril Field - Sketches when serving in Australia (HMS Nelson), 1884-9. (8) List of crew of HMS Adventure murdered in New Zealand / Capt. John Edgecumbe. (9) Parkins Hearle - 'The Royal Marines in Connection with the Foundation of our Australian Colonies', ca.1898, Parts I, II, V. and VI. (10) 'Royal Marines and New Zealand', 1962. Also includes letters to David Collins at Botany Bay, 1789; letters of F.H. Poole (MHS Balatea), 1869-71, and other papers.
