Dr Peter Sack was Senior Fellow in law, Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University, 1957-1998. These research papers were compiled by Dr Sack in the 1960s and 1970s. They document descent, land ownership systems and cultural patterns of inheritance and ownership which effect land tenure. They refer, not just to customary land tenure issues, but to land alienation during the German colonial period and subsequent restoration to indigenous customary owners. Dr Sack's monograph, "Land between two laws : early European land acquisitions in New Guinea", ANU Press, 1973 is based on these research papers
