Albert John Hockings was a seedsman and former mayor of Brisbane.

Typescript of a lecture originally delivered by Albert John Hockings in the Mechanics Institute, South Brisbane in May 1861, describing a trading cruise among the South Sea Islands, 1845-1846, on the brigantine Sarah Wilson. During the cruise Hockings visited Auckland, Tahiti, Samoa and Tonga. The typescript includes a hand drawn chart and two watercolour drawings.
