General Note
The work is not signed or dated. Attached to the lower part of the frame is a bakelite label with black text, "Gregory Blaxland / 1778-1853. / Leader of the party that first / crossed the Blue Mountains, 1813." This label was removed, October 2010, and filed with the Restoration Report. A paper sticker with the number "143" is on the base of the frame. Provenance of item derived from a list of material that was deposited with the National Art Gallery (Art Gallery of N.S.W.), prior to the Mitchell Library's opening in 1910.
