    Signed and dated lower right "C. Martens 1856"

    Entry in Martens' Account book, dated 24 Apr 1856: "Funeral procession of Admiral King Mrs. King 21[pounds].-"; 30 May 1856 "Copy of the above Mrs. King 15[pounds].15.0". The other version of this picture was lent to the National Library of Australia for some years until sold by a member of the King family at Sotheby's, Sydney, 1987. It is now in a private collection, illustrated in Conrad Martens : on the Beagle and in Australia / Susanna de Vries-Evans. Collectors ed. Chapel Hill, [Qld.] : Pandanus Press, 1993, pl.XXII, given as Mitchell Library.
