    Lieutenant Charles Robert Grimes, 50th Regiment, served with the regiment in Australia from 23 March 1839. He was killed in action at Sobraon 10 February 1846, aged 25.

    Presented by a descendant of a god-daughter of Cassandra Joynes, the daughter of Charles Grimes, 1772-1858, Deputy-Surveyor of New South Wales. The donor's great aunt, Miss C. Homewood, presented the Library with other Grimes family portraits in 1951.
