    "Cobbity / Heber Chapel / Built by the Rev. Thos Hassall & dedicated by the Rev Samuel Marsden on Nov 30th (St. Andrews Day) 1828. It was called Heber Chapel after the great Bishop & Hymn writer Bishop Heber of Calcutta who died the previous year on the eve of setting out to visit this part of his extensive diocese. The Rev Hassall built [this?] at his own expense, being [?]and compensated by the Department / MJ MacNally / 1931" -- handwritten on reverse
