  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Gwen Friend (b. 1923), sister of Donald Friend, artist, was a partner with Fifi Banvard in the theatrical company Fifi Banvard Productions. Fifi Banvard was a popular stage and radio actor and was the first woman to be an actor/manager in the Australian theatre. In 1950 they obtained a lease of the Theatre Royal in Hobart where the company played a season from July 1950 to March 1951.
