Caption "A Different Perspective" exhibition. Garden Island remained an island until construction of the Captain Cook Graving Dock connected it to Potts Point during WWII, reclaiming 14 hectares of seabed. The massive 150 ton sheer legs ( a type of crane) on Garden Island was a mistake - the result of a cable to England in the 1890s requesting "1 50 ton sheer legs".
