- General note
Caption "A Different Perspective" exhibition. The Town Hall's Victorian architecture has not always been regarded highly. In 1929, Sydney Ure Smith proclaimed 'a city the size of Sydney should have razed the Town Hall to the ground years ago.' Attempts at modernisation resulted in removal of the ugly 1892 porte-cochere in 1934. This image clearly shows the curvature imparted to George Street by Vaniman's rotating panoramic camera.
