Pino Bosi, author, broadcaster, journalist and publisher, was born at Tolmino, Gorizia, Italy, in 1933. His family migrated to Australia when he was 17-years-old. He entered journalism and worked for the Italian language press, including La Fiamma and La Croce del Sud, and was editor of Il Globo and Settegiorni. In the late 1960s he wrote for The Australian and The Daily Mirror. He set up his own publishing company, Kurunda Publications, in 1970, which released a number of his books, including Blood Sweat and Guts (1971 and 1973), the first concise history of Italian migration to Australia, and On God's Command (1989), a bilingual history of Italian missionaries in Australia. He has edited two self-published magazines: Roba Nostra in the 1970s and Australia Ieri Oggi Domani during the 1980s. Bosi has published a range of short fiction and poetry, in Italian and English, and his award-winning novel, Australia Cane (1971 and 1988), has been a recommended text for students of Italian in Australia.

In the mid-1970s Bosi became a leading advocate of ethnic radio in Australia. He set up Radio Italo-Australiana (RIA), a co-operative intended as a non-profit operation and aimed at offering airtime to various groups. In 1975 he became a foundation Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Communities' Council of N.S.W.. He was involved at the outset of Radio 2EA, and became sole coordinator of the Italian program, 1975-1981. In 1978 he was foundation Chairman of the Association of Ethnic Broadcasters and Coordinators (N.S.W.) which was to liaise with the Special Broadcasting Service, newly established to administer ethnic broadcasting. In the same year he was appointed Chairman of the State Ethnic Broadcasting Advisory Committee (N.S.W.).

Pino Bosi was appointed Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1988.
