    Some of the drawings are stamped with the stamp of the Linnean Society of New South Wales
    No.95 is signed lower left "W. S. Macleay delt." At top right is inscribed in pencil "This was published in Zoological Journal"
    Many of the drawings are inscribed with scientific names and natural history observations
    A number of the drawings are inscribed "Havana"
  • Attributions / conjectures

    Only one drawing is signed by Macleay, but the collection appears to have been compiled by him in Cuba, and most of the drawings bear stylistic similarities to the signed drawing.
  • Date note

    PXE 682/105 and 140 are dated 1833. Macleay lived in Cuba between 1825 and 1836.
