  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Toe Truck Theatre Company is a professional young people's theatre company founded in Sydney in 1976, Toe Truck took it its name from 'theatre of education' - TOE. It followed the English theatre-in-educations model, but it seldom performed for small audiences. The performers were usually adult actors. Most Toe Truck productions toured Sydney schools, but the company made its reputation in theatres during the 1980's with plays such as Debra Oswald's DAGS (1986) and Richard Tulloch's adaptation of Robin Klein's novel Hating Alison Ashley (1987). Toe Truck developed new plays based on issues important to young people or on stories about young people. It closed in 1993.
